Last week we attended the IATA Aviation Fuel Forum in St Petersburg, Russia, and were pleased that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between IATA, A4A and JIG.
The memorandum aims to strengthen and promote safety and quality assurance in global aviation fuel activities, something that was a key theme in talks throughout the week.
There have always been challenges when it comes to ensuring the safety and quality of aviation fuel in different environments and there have been emerging challenges over the last few years as major oil companies have moved further upstream and reduced their involvement in the entire supply chain from refinery to aircraft wing. The reduced amount of expertise available to the market has put safety and quality at a greater risk.
With the three organisations now working closely together, we hope that the alignment of standards across the industry will start to take place, strengthening the regulations around safety and quality and ensuring more efficient processes moving forward.
